Photogrammetric Assets

I’ve just released a vid onto Vimeo showing how we are getting the crazy levels of accuracy for our modelling and texturing.

I will detail the specific processes we use in a chapter in the forthcoming Focal Press book 3D Automotive Modeling.

Action Man

Recently I have been learning the 3Delight renderer. I have been very surprised how easy it has been to transfer over from using Pixar’s Render Man products, its a lot easier for artists to set up multiple passes for compositing – and the kind chaps even give you the first two rendering threads for free.

This Action Man utilizes the excellent image based lighting (IBL) shaders, calculated using point clouds. Got this rendered lightening quick, even with expensive stuff like motion blur, displacement (on the hair and towel).
