Photogrammetric Assets

I’ve just released a vid onto Vimeo showing how we are getting the crazy levels of accuracy for our modelling and texturing.

I will detail the specific processes we use in a chapter in the forthcoming Focal Press book 3D Automotive Modeling.

  1. heres a suggestion my friend Richard Nash has made:
“How about matching the real world light then baking out both the raw model’s occlusion and photo textures to a UV map so you can use the occlusion fall off and lighting from the model to flatten out the photo detail in PhotoShop? Just an idea.”

this sounds interesting, I might give this a try one day, it does sometimes take a while to ‘unlight’ the reference images. would be hard to ‘un-colour bleed’ things automatically though would it?
